Jennifer Rozwood, known as "Roz" on stage, is well-rounded professional visual and performing artist.
She is an illustrator who specializes in cartooning and caricature, excels in illustrating anything from magazines, children's books, greeting cards to murals and is a master at drawing caricatures. Her artwork has appeared in such distinguished newspapers as the San Francisco Bay Guardian and The Weekly. She has designed and installed award-winning paintings and displays at music stores in the Bay Area, designed and painted two large-scale murals, several small mural projects as well as creating an illustrated series of ten animals to aid as an educational tool in the plight of endangered species.
I have been drawing cartoons ever since I was a child. At age six, I was being commissioned by my elementary school's faculty to create advertisements which involved signage, lettering, and illustrations for all kinds of events. I created signs for such events as bake sales, talent show, athletic events, and sock hops. Throughout the years, I enjoyed drawing cartoons to express stories and draw my teachers for fun. Unfortunately, the elementary and high schools I attended were unprivileged and could not afford an art program. However, I was involved in a talented and gifted program, where I excelled many creative projects, especially art. For two years I was accepted into an arts middle school in which I touched not only on art, but dance and theater programs as well. In 1994, I attended SUNY at Buffalo and graduated with a B.A. in Illustration.
In 1994, I first became aware of the art of caricature when I interviewed at a theme park in New York as a tattoo artist. Little did I know that the art of caricature existed or what it even was until the employer saw the major portfolio I kept throughout the years and designated me a caricature artist. The next day, I was thrown out to the wolves on the midway, so to speak, and began drawing caricatures for the public! I was influenced here and there by watching the other artists that I worked with, but from then on, I was able to create my own unique style.
In 1995, I began drawing caricatures for private, public, and corporate events as a caricature artist and worked for all kinds of clients and media as a cartoonist.
In the happy eve of June 21, 2005, Lance Diamond, Buffalo's #1 Lounge Act, introduced me to the entertainment world of caricatures! I drew caricatures during his Friday Happy Hour show at the old Zoo Bar in Buffalo, NY. People LOVED it! They loved it SO much that they never forgot! In 2005, when I went back to Buffalo for a visit, a few random people there stopped me and said, "Oh my god, it's you! You drew my caricature at Lance's shows! You're famous! Your should be on tv!" It is funny! Here are some links below:
If anyone ever showed me how to REALLY give your all to entertain, it is LANCE. His stylin, jim jammin' fab mamajama vocals and smoove brilliant moves really gets the audience boogin' down to the 70s with the likes of The Gap Band, Sly and the Family Stone, and The Commodores amoung others. He has a HUGE influence on both my visual and performing art career.
Bring it on, and bring it on down, supa fly, ya baaaad mamajama!
Since then, I have continued to expand my client base and reach new avenues with my fun and exciting talent!
I have illustrated for everything including magazines, children's books, greeting cards, and t-shirts. My artwork has appeared in all sorts of distinguished media including the San Francisco Bay Guardian, The San Francisco Weekly as well as fun courtroom sketches on KPIX 5 on the prime time evening news. I have designed and installed award-winning paintings and displays at music stores in the Bay Area, designed and painted two large-scale murals in New York, several small mural projects in San Francisco as well as creating cartoons for ALL sorts of projects for corporations, businesses, and individuals. I have had several art openings at galleries in New York and San Francisco and I anticipate many more.
My past clients include Intel, IBM, CBS KPIX 5, Kron 4, Old Navy/The Gap, Harrah's Casinos, Pier 39, Hornblower Cruises, The San Francisco Zoo, Clorox, Kaiser Permanente, Wells Fargo and Absolut Vodka.
Highlights of my career include traveling to New York City on several occasions to work at the famous caricature artist restaurant, Sardi's off Broadway in New York's theater district. http://www.sardis.com

Mariela de la Cerda, Bride to Be
"Hello Roz!! My name is Mariela. And boy I have a funny story for you. Two years ago thanks to you my life changed just a bit. Bouchon Bistro in Yountville had a Bastille day celebration. You were there. I was also there with some friends of mine. We all worked at Bouchon and had the day off and we assisted to the party. I saw this very classy, Jacky Kennedy looking woman with this beautiful black hat, drawing cartoons out of people. I always wanted mine done since I was a little girl. So I thought I had mine done. Anyway, I remember taking the drawing with me but left it on a table and another friend of mine found it minutes later. I saw them no long after that and they said they were meeting with friends for drinks later and invited me to come. But he held on to the drawing. One of his friends that met them afterwards saw the drawing and ask who she was and my friend said, "we are meeting her for drinks later tonight". With a smile on his face he said, "I have to meet her!". And he did, and now, two years later, we are planning our wedding!! We are getting married this July 8th. and I wanted you to be part of it too. We, in a way, met through your talent and wanted to have that same scenario happen during our wedding. Who knows maybe some else will be thanking you for making them look so good, or attractive enough in a cartoon drawing that later on brings them together for the rest of their lives.
So what do you say, how much will you charge us to have you be with us in our special day with your beautiful big black hat, which, I have to say, it's very classy. We are getting married in here in Napa Valley and we were thinking to just be for a couple of hours, the cocktail hour when we are getting our pictures taken, our guests can have their cartoon being drawn. What do you say??
Let me know, I really hope you can make it." - 1.26.2006
