My artwork appeared on broadcast news on San Francisco's KPIX/CBS News Channel 5 at 11pm Wednesday, February 25, 2005 at 11pm (and a repeat at 5pm, Thursday, February 26th) for a traffic court story that included five illustrations. It is a fun story about how news reporter, Mike Sugerman, beat the San Francisco traffic court's silly accusations.
I spent the day with Mike Sugerman and his camera person, Chris, at the Hall of Justice and came up with these sketches. I received lots of credit and exposure, as they mentioned who drew the sketches as well as mention my website name. Mike even had me draw a picture of myself drawing in traffic court!
This is a big step in my career!
See the KPIX site for more information on the television station and the news reporter, Mike Sugerman!
#1: Mike walks into the courtroom with proof in hand.
#2: Mike shows the judge his proof.
#3: The verdict is "NOT GUILTY!"
#4: Happy, Excited Mike!
#5: The artist who sketched during court: ROZ!

Jase Gross ran across America July 4, 2005-November 2005 to raise money for the American Diabetes Association's diabetes research. Roz created an illustration for Gross in honor of his ADA run. Artwork appeared on websites, t-shirts, mugs, and the like in support of ADA
I am a professional cartoon artist and I have been drawing cartoons ever since I was a child. At the early age of six, I was commissioned by my elementary school's faculty to create advertisements which involved signage, lettering, and illustrations for all kinds of events. I created signs for such events as bake sales, spelling bees, talent shows, athletic events, book sales, and sock hops. Throughout the years, I enjoyed drawing cartoons to express stories and draw my teachers for fun. Unfortunately, the elementary and high schools I attended were underprivileged and could not afford an art program. However, I was involved in a talented and gifted program, where I excelled many creative projects, especially art. For two years I was accepted into an arts middle school in which I focused not only on art, but dance and theater programs as well. In 1994, I attended SUNY at Buffalo and graduated with a B.A. in Illustration with emphasis in cartooning!
I aim to continue to expand my client base and reach new avenues with my fun and exciting talent!
I have illustrated for everything including magazines, children's books, greeting cards, and t-shirts. My artwork has appeared in all sorts of distinguished media including the San Francisco Bay Guardian and The San Francisco Weekly as well as fun courtroom sketches on KPIX 5 on the prime time evening news. I have designed and installed award-winning paintings and displays at music stores in the Bay Area, designed and painted two large-scale murals in New York, several small mural projects in San Francisco as well as creating cartoons for ALL sorts of projects for corporations, businesses, and individuals. I have had several art openings at galleries in New York and San Francisco and I anticipate many more.
My past clients include Yahoo!, EBay, Intel, IBM, CBS KPIX 5, Kron 4, Old Navy/The Gap, Harrah's Casinos, Pier 39, Hornblower Cruises, The San Francisco Zoo, Clorox, Kaiser Permanente, Wells Fargo and Absolut Vodka.

ABOUT CARTOONS!
I hope you got a clear idea of my style and charm in my cartoons. I look forward to hearing from you and working on your unique project!
PROCESS
An illustration project will occupy much of my time during a roughly 2 week process because it takes a while in order to rough out your idea on paper and find reference material. It will take about 40 hours, depending on how complicated your idea is. The more people, things, actions, etc., you would like in the drawing, the longer it will take. We will be going back and forth with probably 2 to 3 sequences of changes to the illustration until a final has been agreed upon. Thereafter, it will take a day in order to complete the final outcome in ink, to color it (if necessary), and to deliver it via email.
INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR PROJECT:
In order for me to get a better understanding of what it is you want in the illustration, here is the information that I will need:
Let me know if you have a budget.
If you have a time frame that you would like to have this done by or a due date. Rush orders will cost more and will be determined by the artist regarding how complicated the drawing is.
Your name, company name (if any), address, phone, fax, email, and website.
Is this a gift? What is this illustration intended for?
I will need to know exactly what you will be using the drawing for because this will be written into the contract. If you find that you would like to use the drawing for other purposes in the future, a new contract can be written to cover your needs as agreed upon between the client and the artist.
As far as the content and design, what did you have in mind?
Will this be in color or black and white?
What size would you like this to be?
Would you like your illustration to be framed?
On what surface are you planning on putting the cartoon on?
If you plan on having this printed, do you have a printer in mind? If so, I need their contact information including name, number, company name, address, and email address so that I can deal with file types and sizes.
If you plan on having it delivered by email, please let me know the file type and size needed.
In what method would you like this to be delivered (i.e., mail, by hand, email)?
For caricatures: Do you have 2 to 3 good photos of the face?
If in color, do you know the eye and hair color of each person?
In what time frame would you like this to be completed?
Will I be paid cash or check and when? By whom?
How did you find me?
Any other information that I may need.
(Note: If you plan on buying a cartoon for the intention of making money off them yourself, I do not work WORK FOR HIRE , FORSPEC, or PRO BONO , i.e. volunteer work) A copyright law protects all of my work, including the work on this site. You do not have exclusive use over any of my images, and all agreements will be made in writing concerning what uses the illustration you commissioned will be used for, as agreed upon by both parties and signed for by contract. This means that the artist and the buyer will write up and agreement and will converse upon which uses you may use the illustration for at that time including a time period for use. If you decide later that you would like to use the illustrations for anything else, please consult the artist first. Don't worry! I am fairly easy-going!
Also, the idea of a "quick easy sketch" does not exist in my work or any professional's work. All art is researched and much time has been taken into account for each piece. Contrary to popular belief, the ideas, thoughts, work, creativity and talent put into drawing cartoons and caricatures is siginificant. It may look easy, but it takes invaluable and incredible finesse.
PLEASE copy and paste the above questions into an email with the word "GIG" or "BOOKING" in the subject header when you contact me regarding your event/project. This will help us have better communication regarding your needs and, if a verbal agreement is agreed upon, these initial answers will be easier upon us when a contract is created for the event/project!
